Singapore's Business Climate for Foreign Businesses
[ send me this paper ]
A 20 page paper written as a report to the UN of conditions affecting the conduct of business by a foreign company in Singapore. Singapore has exercised more prudence than several other of the ASEAN nations in the management of their finances and lending practices, so they are not as adversely affected by the currency crisis as most of the other member states. Singapore is indeed a country in which to conduct profitable business pursuits: the government is sympathetic to the needs of the business community and also places no restrictions on percentages of foreign ownership. The paper contains several tables. Bibliography lists 14 sources.

Singapore's Unfolding Future
[ send me this paper ]
A 14 page paper examining Singapore's rise from one of the world's poorest nations in 1960 to a mature economy in the 1990s, and discussing conditions
necessary for other developing nations to be able to effectively adopt the Singapore model.
Singapore began with a series of 5-year plans to which the government religiously adhered. As it
has become fashionable to condemn globalization, Singapore remains as an example of things
done right. Influx of FDI and economic expansion has dramatically increased the citizenry's
standard of living, but the government has maintained strict control so that Singapore's national culture and character have been preserved. Bibliography lists 13 sources.

Small Business’ Use of Internal Accountants
[ send me this paper ]
A 12 page literature review examining the value of accountants to the small business. The literature review is for use in a study of small businesses in which they will be surveyed regarding the sources of the accounting expertise they use, for the purpose of relating accounting presence and business failure. The original purpose of this literature review was to locate and discuss articles focusing on small businesses’ use and employment of accounting personnel in support of an upcoming study of that relationship and its effect on the course of development of the small enterprise. No such specific information appears to be available, however, a surprising discovery in light of the critical nature of efficient and optimal operation of business of any size. Despite the dearth of information directly related to the proposed hypotheses for the study, the information that does exist points to the need for the proposed study. Bibliography lists 19 sources.
