Improving Morale And Productivity In A Union-Based Work Environment
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Maintaining morale and productivity in any work environment presents a challenge in and of itself; however, doing so in a union-based work environment brings forth challenges quite divergent from the typical workplace. That union workers are protected by a governing agent of overseers creates a type of mindset that often lends itself to exception, in that union workers are guaranteed certain rights under contract and by law are not required to go above and beyond those set standards. For example, a union painter might contract for a job that pays two hundred dollars per day for a nine-to-five shift. Because that contract guarantees his payment no matter what his attitude might be, he can show up to the job with a sour disposition day after day and as long as he performs his duties under the guidelines of his contract, his job cannot be threatened. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Improving Morale And Productivity In A Union-Based Work Environment, Part 2
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. B.C. Gosh and Lim Kia Song's "Structures And Processes Of Company Quality Control Circles (QCCs): An Explanatory Study Of Japan, The USA And Singapore" in the publication Management Decision clearly defines the benefits of participatory management, a concept that can readily be applied to the union-based work environment in order to boost morale and production. The nature of information found in this particular article speaks to the necessity of employee involvement at all levels, with a focus upon removing the barriers of segmentation so typically found in union-based work environments. No additional sources cited.
