Using Regression Analysis in Forecasting Sales
[ send me this paper ]
An 8 page paper discussing the difficulty that Harmon Foods (Harvard Case 9-171-248) has in forecasting annual cereal sales. The company is seeking to identify factors influencing variation in cereal sales, but the brand manager makes assumptions he should never consider as being valid. If seasonality is found to be as great a factor as it appears to be, then Harmon can plan to decrease TV advertising during those months in which industry sales of cold cereals are slowest. Dealer promotions, consumer promotions and advertising need to increase in those months in which cereal sales already have been seen to be the strongest. Bibliography lists 2 sources.

Using The Brain's Right And Left Hemispheres To Create Well-Rounded Business People
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. The brain is an amazingly complex entity; when used to its fullest capacity, one readily incorporates both the left and right hemispheres. This is not often the case, however, inasmuch as individuals tend to lean in one direction or another, not typically combining the logical left side with the creative right side.
Business, one might readily argue, is much like the brain's split hemispheres, in that its fundamental basis rests within the concepts of logic and rationality, yet there is also a part that thrives upon creative and spatial elements, as well. Thus, the well-rounded business person is savvy enough to realize that commerce must be approached with the combined efforts of right and left brain hemisphere in order to address an ever-growing industry.
