Website Reviews
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page paper evaluating the effectiveness of several websites, ranging
from retail book sales to wholesale pharmaceutical services to fast food restaurant information.
Each site is assessed on a variety of criteria, all of which relates to the site's effective use of
marketing principles. Some of the sites evaluated here are highly effective, and the manner in
which they achieve their effectiveness serves to highlight the failings of less useful ones, such as
Fruit of the Loom. Each provides example of why website design needs to reflect the business
strategies of the company represented. No sources listed.

WebTV
[ send me this paper ]
8 pages in length. Since the invention of computer
technology, people have been searching for ways to incorporate the Internet into their daily lives. The problem at hand, however, was addressing the needs of those who either did not want to learn all the computer skills or were not able to fully understand how to operate one. It was soon realized that these two groups made up a significant population of consumers who still wanted to access the Internet; with this understanding, WebTV was born as a way in which to provide access with very little computer knowledge. Bibliography lists 7 sources.

What is the Future of Books?: Advantages of Electronically Formatted Media
[ send me this paper ]
A 7 page contention that although books are a mainstay of both our academic and our personal lives, serving to enlighten us and to entertain us, they are quickly becoming an antiquity. The hard print world of books, magazines, and newsletters is quickly being replaced by the electronic world of computerized media. Just as the blackboard and inkwell have given way in the past to write-and-wipe boards and ball-point pens, the print medium is giving way to hypertext and palm readers. Indeed, books are soon to be a thing of our past. This paper uses the educational arena to demonstrate the superiority of electronically formatted media in comparison to traditional print media. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

What Would a Computer Need in Order to Think Independently?
[ send me this paper ]
5
pages in length. Would a computer that passes the Turing Test
(Computing Machinery and Intelligence, by A. M. Turing) have a
mind? This has been a debate that has lasted for decades. One
of those who would undoubtedly loudly object to the possibility
would be John Searle, who wrote Minds, Brains and Programs. In
order to argue this question intelligently, we must first ask
ourselves however, what a computer would need in order to have a
mind. And how would we know this? This is an interesting
treatise on the subject. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

What Would Have Happened If The Computer Revolution Took Place At The Same Time As The Industrial Revolution?
[ send me this paper ]
4 pages in length. The popular adage that contends too much of a good thing can be bad might readily be applied had the computer revolution occurred at the same time as the Industrial Revolution. Looking at it from the perspective of twenty-first century understanding, where virtually everything in the modern world revolves around or is operated by computers, it seems wholly unlikely that anything positive would have come out of this simultaneous coupling when the Industrial Revolution was itself a monumental period of advancement all on its own. In essence, it was result of a series of events that took place to set the stage for industrialism; there was a tangible timeline that provided for the progression toward the Industrial Revolution. Contrarily, there would have been no precursor to usher in the computer revolution had it occurred at the same time and, as such, would have undoubtedly thrown the early twentieth century into a tailspin.
