This is a 5 page paper discussing different issues in relation to action research. Sample articles are also discussed. The research process called action research or participatory action research (PAR) was introduced in studies in social sciences in the late 1940s. Since then it has been used in studies on cultures and communities and is intended for not only a comprehensive look at the issues of concern within a community but is also designed to promote social and political change as a result of the research. More recently it has been used extensively in areas of education regarding internal and external forces and intend to promote processes within the educational systems which need to be changed especially education of the oppressed and areas of inequality within the system.
