Cleaning Up Oil Spills
[ send me this paper ]
12 pages in length. The world's oceans and shorelines have been ravaged by the significant damage caused by crude oil spills. Tankers that have fallen victim to the wrath of Mother Nature or human error have strewn tons of slick and mucky cargo across waterways, land strips and animal habitats. A Strategic Critique of Exxon Research
[ send me this paper ]
This 9 page report discusses the strategies applied by Exxon Oil company’s research and engineering division. The way in which complex systems evolve -- in nature, in politics, in the human body, in corporations -- has become, to a great degree, a science unto itself. Such study allows scientists and researchers in numerous disciplines to formulate theories about how complex systems evolve. It doesn't matter whether the system is a flock of birds, a microchip or the stock market, so long as it constantly adapts to changes in its environment. Applying such thinking to an entity such as an oil company’s research group illustrates the ways in which new thinking is required for the new millennium. Bibliography lists 20 sources.
