Should Gay And Lesbian Couples Be Allowed To Adopt?
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. Raising emotionally healthy children requires parents who are compassionate, guiding, interactive, available, responsive and loving. While both men and women possess these characteristics and more necessary for the proper upbringing of children, society is used to the genders being paired as one man and one woman when it comes to assuming the role of parents. Being that these are not gender-specific traits - single men and women alike raise emotionally healthy children with great regularity - it stands to reason how gay and lesbian couples are just as capable of bringing up a child. The extent to which homosexual couples are considered inappropriate role models for adoption is both grand and far-reaching; that gays and lesbians reflect no better or worse a parenting option than their heterosexual counterparts speaks to the need for making this assessment on a case-by-case basis rather than broad-brushing the entire homosexual community. Bibliography lists 7 sources.

Should Same-Sex Marriages Be Allowed In The United States
[ send me this paper ]
3 pages in length. Marriage is the bringing together of two people who love each other, no matter their gender. Despite what zealots argue, the union of two people is decided upon and carried out by no one other than those individuals; to pass judgment on what love is or how it may be expressed is to see a side of humanity that one would not expected to witness in the twenty-first century. Witch hunts and slavery were cast out of what was allegedly a civilized society only to give way to other issues through the years that mirror the same intense prejudice and undesirable behavior from what is supposed to be an enlightened species. A person's sexual orientation has absolutely no bearing upon the worthiness of marriage - if it did, divorce statistics would support fewer heterosexual unions. The focus needs to be placed upon the loving, devoted nature of the couple to the complete exclusion of any gender consideration. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

Should The Baptist Church Allow Same-Sex Marriages
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page paper. Although the title names the Baptist church, the essay is adaptable to any church or just to the religious dilemma homosexual unions pose to the churches. Following a brief introduction, the writer reports studies that have found a possible biological reason for sexual orientation. At the very least, these genetic factors lead to a predisposition. The writer then reports some of the many examples of the stands different churches/religions have taken and what some are practicing relative to same-sex unions. The results of two recent polls in the U.S. indicate attitudes about validating same-sex marriages are changing. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Should the Church Stop Gay Marriages?
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages. This paper argues that the government and/or church or religious institutions should have the power to stop same-sex marriages. According to Canadian and United States research materials there are many people that feel the same way. The laws are in many cases in complete agreement with this feeling. Bibliography lists 7 sources.

Sitcom Portrayal Of Homosexuality
[ send me this paper ]
7 pages in length. Prime time television sitcoms often introduce viewers to fringe populations of society whose only real purpose for inclusion is to provide an element of ridicule and sideways disrespect thinly veiled in the form of comedy. The extent to which depiction of homosexuality is not only limited but also skewed is both grand and far-reaching; that typical prime time sitcom portrayals fail to reach beyond the façade of cheap innuendos and site gags speaks to an entertainment culture whose desire is not to provide an accurate or educational representation but rather one that garners high ratings. "Will and Grace" has certainly set a precedent with regard to exposing the general public to an alternative lifestyle many viewers have never fully understood, however, it still lacks significant understanding of the homosexual community by this candy-coated portrayal since the program takes great care to avoid any deeper realities of being gay, lesbian or bisexual. Bibliography lists 10 sources.

Social Problems of Homosexual Behavior
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page review of the many social problems that are encountered as a result of homosexual behavior. This paper contends that while the tendency is to blame these problems on homophobia, they really result from social policies implemented for very real concerns about the unhealthy and aberrant nature of homosexuality. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Societal Barriers Based on Sexual Orientation, Gender, and Race
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page discussion of the numerous societal barriers and limitations which are put in place on the basis of race, gender, and sexual orientation. Contends that since the advent of the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s, societal restrictions and limitations made on the basis of gender and race have slowly lessened. The reason for this change is the willingness of individuals to stand up for their basic rights, to exert their differences and to insist that there be no societal differentiation based on those differences. While there has been tremendous progress in regard to societal equality of the races and genders, however, there are still many barriers and limitations which are imposed on such factors as sexual orientation. The author contends that these restrictions and limitations can be overcome as well. All that is needed is the willingness to do so and the fortitude to stand in the face of all resistance. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
