Canadian Healthcare: Factors Adding Up to Failure and Attempts at Resolution
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page discussion of the many challenges facing the Canadian health care system, challenges which are translating into a deleterious impact to patient welfare. Contends that although the system is characterized by a rapidly changing technology and more complex nursing needs little is being accomplished toward addressing those needs. Indeed, the present climate of fiscal restraint which exists across Canada has resulted in an increased use of unregulated health care workers in a variety of health care settings. These unregulated workers have been employed as cost saving measures but are perceived by many as having contributed to degraded health care environment. Suggests that a better approach might be to encompass these workers under the oversight of the professionals who have served as the backbone of Canada's health care system for generations.
