Florence Nightingale's Environmental Theory Applied to Refugee Camps
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper discussing this theory in conjunction with conditions in modern refugee camps. Application of Nightingale's theory directly applies today to refugee camps around the world. As these camps exist in countries whose economies have been decimated by never-ending war, drought or cataclysmic natural disaster, it is common for them to lack the most basic of requirements for sustaining human life. We have known for a long time now that Nightingale was right, that healing and the avoidance of disease both are optimized in positive environments. Florence Nightingale came to the realization long before the rest of the medical profession. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

Fluoride: Overview
[ send me this paper ]
3 pages in length. Fluoride, thought to be the best way to prevent tooth decay, has now come under significant scrutiny for its connection to other health issues including damage to tooth enamel and cancer. Drinking water supplies across the country have had fluorine added their sources for nearly eighty years and toothpaste has been fortified for decades to make sure as many people as possible have access to easy prevention; today, almost seventy percent of the nation's population drinks fluoridated water. This, however, is precisely the problem: Fluoride has a fine line between acceptable and toxic levels that studies have found to be crossed, threatening the health of children and adults alike. Focused Clinical Inquiry of Hip Replacement Patient
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page research paper that discusses Total hip replacement (THR), which has been identified in medical literature as one of the most "successful and cost-effective surgical interventions" (McMurray, et al, 2005). This discussion of THR relates literature on this topic to the requirements of a nursing student to formulate a focused clinical inquiry that pertain to a patient that the student car for a his/her practice clinical placement in an orthopedic ward. As the student did not provide details about this experience, the information is general, so that the student can adapt it when reporting in his/her own paper. Bibliography lists 15 sources.

Following Watson's Example/Personal Philosophy of Nursing
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page research paper/essay that offers a guide for contrasting and comparing a student nurse's personal nursing philosophy to that of nursing theorist Jean Watson. The writer argues that each individual nurse brings personal perception to the act of interpreting Watson's theory. This interpretation is necessarily influenced by that nurse's personal history, knowledge level, and understanding. The purpose of this discussion of Watson's theory is to compare and contrast it with the personal nursing philosophy of a particular nursing student. The paradigms of person, environment, health and nursing are addressed. Bibliography lists 9 sources.

Food Addiction / The Body Knows
[ send me this paper ]
A 3 page paper illustrating aspects of food addiction. Written as a narrative, the paper mentions many of the points of blame food addicts assign to their condition—mother was always heavy, too; everyone says it's only a matter of will power. But there are other, less obvious reasons some people eat without even being aware of it. Some of it can be habit, but it's also a reaction to stimuli that often are negative or a poor self image that needs physical reinforcement. There are organizations to help, just as there are for that one addicted to alcohol, but food is an insidious thing. The alcoholic can simply resolve never to drink again. The food addict is forced to relearn (or learn) why and when to eat. Bibliography lists 1 source.
