Long-Term Functional Benefits Of Forced Use Vs. Traditional Use Of Involved Extremities In Patients With Cerebral Vascular Accidents
[ send me this paper ]
8 pages in length. There is much debate within the medical community as to the efficacy of extremity rehabilitation for patients who have suffered a cerebral vascular accident (stroke). While some believe that there is enough scientific evidence to warrant the continued application of rehabilitation techniques, others contend that convincing evidence concerning the therapeutic usefulness of stroke rehabilitation does not yet exist. When the overall consensus is to implement a rehabilitation program, there is still the question of which technique is best: forced or traditional. The writer discusses how proponents of each technique attest to the beneficial outcome of usage; however, there exist a number of variables in making this determination for each individual patient. Low Sodium Diets for Children: The Positives and Negatives
[ send me this paper ]
An 8 page discussion of the feasibility of implementing low sodium diets for children. Contends that the regulation of sodium is a critical facet of any diet. In children, however, the benefits of restricting sodium intake are often controversial. Indeed, sodium is a critical component of a child’s physiology. Too little sodium can be just as adverse as too much sodium. In children with special dietary concerns, such as those with nephrogenic diabetes insipidus, Duchene muscular dystrophy, Becker muscular dystrophy, and a variety of heart conditions, a low sodium diet is imperative. In most cases, however, the logic of a low sodium diet is highly contested. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
