The Impact of Agency Nurses on Quality Health Care
[ send me this paper ]
A 17 page research paper that examines the current revolution that has been taking place in the health care system of the U.S. The writer demonstrates how the entire focus of the health care system has been altered as facilities switch to a capitationist orientation that emphasizes reducing and cutting costs. Unfortunately, one of the areas that is frequently cut is full-time nursing staff, and temporary help is brought in to 'fill in the gaps.' A review of empirical studies that have investigated the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes shows that cutting back on nursing staff negatively impacts care. Bibliography lists 14 sources.

[ send me this paper ]
This 12 page paper relates the basic components of Orlando's views. Ida Jean Orlando’s Deliberate Process of Nursing is what has been deemed one of the “interpersonal process theories” that focuses the relationship between the nurse and the patient. In the labor and delivery unit, advanced practice nurses often take an active role in the process of care, recognizing first that patients can participate in the process and work to meet their own needs. This paper also relates some other views, including those of Dorothea Orem. Bibliography lists 12 sources.

The Art and Profession of Midwifery -- the Nurse’s View
[ send me this paper ]
This 6 page report discusses one of the oldest health care professions -- that of being a midwife. Midwives specialize in women giving birth. In countless circumstances, midwives are able to provide the specialized and personal services that the typical gynecologist-obstetrician M.D. could only provide if she or he had a truly limited medical practice. More often than not, the average midwife provides the average pregnant woman with the services she most wants and needs -- competence and personal interaction and understanding. Bibliography lists 12 sources.

The Art of Nursing
[ send me this paper ]
This 12 page paper argues that nursing is an art, and not a science. The Benefits of MIDCAB Versus Standard Coronary Bypass
[ send me this paper ]
An 8 page literature review that supports the theory that the MIDCAB or minimally invasive direct coronary bypass procedure, has a number of benefits for patients and nurses over the commonly used standard coronary bypass procedure. The benefits for patients include less pain, because the procedure is less invasive and does not require a sternotomy, quicker recovery times and shorter hospital stays. It is the theory of the author that this also benefits nurses by decreasing the amount of time they must provide cardiac care within the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU).
