Implementing TQM at the American Red Cross
[ send me this paper ]
A 4 page paper discussing resolution of quality problems at ARC. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) asked a federal court in December 2001 “to hold American Red Cross (ARC) in contempt of a 1993 consent decree covering ARC’s blood program.” It also requested that the court give the FDA authority to levy fines against ARC for noncompliance with blood supply standards. Though ARC is but one supplier of the nation’s blood, it furnishes approximately 45 percent of total supply. The purpose here is to evaluate the benefit that a total quality management (TQM) approach could bring to ARC in decreasing incidence of noncompliance and in elevating the safety of the nation’s blood supply. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

In Favor Of How Bayer Is Making Money From Cipro Pills
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Myriad concerns over health and safety have surfaced since the World Trade Center terrorist attacks. With the heightened state of tension caused by the seemingly associated presence of Anthrax, it is no wonder people frightened for the nation's future. However, it is important for the student to point out that there is yet another concern revolving around the Anthrax situation that has people divided over its social, ethical and economic impact: Bayer Corporation's high price for Cipro, the antibiotic that effectively contains the progression of Anthrax. Is this German-based company morally and legally right in making money off this terrorist activity by charging the consumer $4 per pill when other nations have it accessible for a mere $10 per month? Bibliography lists 2 sources.

In Favor of Promoting Community Sport
[ send me this paper ]
A 3 page campaign speech for an individual seeking a position from which s/he can develop community sport. The speaker reviews growing rates of obesity, diabetes and coronary artery disease as public health problems of the electronic age, and the problem of boredom and isolation that many teens and children deal with on a daily basis. Healthy people create healthy, vibrant, active and involved communities, which in turn positively affect the lives of all within them. While sport cannot be seen as a magic cure for all of the world’s ills, it certainly can provide a measure of health and happiness in the communities that value and support it. No source listed.

In Support Of Cloning Body Parts
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. People may be living longer these days; however, that has not stopped the scientific community from pursuing other avenues of extended life. The concept of body part cloning has a tremendous potential of sustaining life where it otherwise would not have existed, particularly in the form of cell regrowth and organ transplant. Indeed, to think that mankind would ever have the ability to create a heart or liver from the point of origin can be labeled as purely science fiction, yet contemporary medicine is demonstrating how this monumental feat not only exists today but is also going to benefit all of humanity. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

In the Defense of Abortion: Pro-Choice
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 5 page paper presenting the weaknesses in the pro-life argument against abortion and the strengths and rights presented in the case of those for pro-choice. In the arguments presented by pro-lifers in regards to their opposition to abortion, there has been found to be inconsistent reasoning behind their definitions of morality, medical ethics, responsibility, fetus viability and the idea of “preservation of life”. The weaknesses in the pro-life arguments are considered one of the many inconsistencies which exist within society today in regards to the abortion debate. Advocates of pro-choice in regards to abortion have found that women’s decisions to have abortions are actually based on their basic human right to choose what happens to them and their bodies, obviously, but also in their basic rights to health, their responsibilities toward their unborn child and their families, the medical communities ethical responsibility to preserving the health of women, and their right to life considered above that of their unborn children. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
