The Bombing of Pearl Harbor: A Japanese Mistake
[ send me this paper ]
A 14 page overview of the events leading up to the Japanese bombing of Pearly Harbor and the long term response of the United States. By bombing Pearl Harbor the Japanese invoked not only the military might of the United States but also her political and economic power. That one act would ensure both the overt and the covert hostilities of the United States for the next six decades. Pearl Harbor ensured Japan's defeat militarily, politically, and economically. Although she eventually overcame the economic, and indeed even the political, annoyances hurled by the United States, the United States proved to be the most formidable enemy Japan ever faced. The Bretton Woods System
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Recovering from the World War II was no easy feat. The battle, which was the largest and most expensive in history, proved to be a physical and moral albatross around the political necks of all who were a part. To think that entire cities were devastated, entire populations were erased and entire races were eliminated took its toll on those who were lucky enough to survive. Additionally, there had to be a manner by which to steady the exchange rate that had lost its economic footing during the war. It is at this point that the American dollar – and its subsequent demand under the Bretton Woods system – caused great bitterness with the European elite. The writer discusses which theory best sustains the origins and the evolution of the Bretton Woods System: pluralism, realism, liberalism or dependency. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

The Cause Of World War II
[ send me this paper ]
8 pages in length. At the crux of the Second World War was not so much the instigation of just one entity, but rather the combined efforts of two significant forces. Some believe that all the blame of WWII belongs squarely upon the political shoulders of the Weimar Republic failure, while others contend that the German character, aims of the Kaisserreich and the rise of Hitler were instrumental in setting the stage for war. If one were to assess the reasons behind how and why World War II ultimately occurred, there would not be one singular instigator that catapulted these global regions into the depths of battle. Bibliography lists 9 sources.

The Changes of a Pilgrim
[ send me this paper ]
( 7 pp) Bibliography lists 5 sources. This
discussion will center on the psychological
changes that are represented by the Kurt Vonnegut
character, Billy Pilgrim in the 1968 novel,
SlaughterHouse Five. The parts of the character
and the novel are mixed together as much as the
turmoil of one war, and the memories of another.
This is the story of an author remembering his
youthful prisoner of war experiences during the
horrific bombing of Dresden. The city was of no
strategic importance, but the Allies continued to
bomb it - perhaps simply because they could.
The firestorm that consumed the city, also ate
135, 000 souls. We will look at the
psychological shifts of the main character as
he moves through the past and the novel of the
present. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
