Armenia, Genocide & Meaning
[ send me this paper ]
A 30 page research paper that discusses genocide, focusing primarily on the details of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 and Peter Balakian's book on this subject, The Burning Tigris (2003). Balakian's analysis of the Armenian Genocide addresses several pertinent themes that are applicable to the overall topic of genocide. Therefore, this examination of the Armenian Genocide, concentrating on the history and analysis offered by Balakian, also extends his points, where applicable, to the topic of genocide in general. It attempts to discern the pattern of genocide and how this has been replicated in other genocidal campaigns, as well as the fundamental causes behind genocide and tragedy, which relate the discussion to the causes of human aggression and violence. Arrow of God: A Review of the Factors Responsible for Ulu’s Loss of Influence in Umauaro
[ send me this paper ]
An 8 page paper providing a brief synopsis of the book by Chinua Achebe. The author of this paper places the events which unfold in the book in a historical context, asserting that the problems which occurred in Umauaro and which “Arrow of God” presents as revolving primarily around the loss of influence of the god Ulu cannot be solely placed on the shoulders of the chief priest Ezeulu. Indeed, the problems which resulted in Umauaro are just a small reflection of those that resulted throughout Africa. The blame is more accurately placed on the British and on the villagers themselves for succumbing to greed and corruption. No additional sources are listed.

Assessment of Northern Ireland since the Good Friday Agreement
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 4 page paper assessing the Northern Ireland conflict since the implementation of the Good Friday Agreement. Since the Good Friday Agreement was implemented in Northern Ireland in 1998, the British and Irish Governments have been assessing the events and improvements which have occurred since that time. In addition to constitutional and government issues addressed in the Agreement, the implementation of the Agreement also led to equal rights and opportunities regardless of religious affiliation in the areas of employment, services, and education which increased community awareness and cooperation. The fact the Agreement also contained aspects of diminishing the British police presence in Northern Ireland and the release of political prisoners was also exceedingly well received. Within the last year however, certain components in regards to the implementation of the Agreement have stalled, such as the full development of a new police force and board, and people have been split along pro-Agreement and anti-Agreement lines. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
