De Stael/On Germany
[ send me this paper ]
A 20 page research paper/analysis of early nineteenth century writer Madame Germaine de Stael's 1813 text De l'Allemagne (On Germany), which is a comprehensive overview of Germany history, climate and natural character. Not only does Stael discuss these factors, in and of themselves, but she also illustrates how these factors affect German literature, philosophy, religious and moral attitudes. This examination of this text demonstrates that it constitutes a vast compendium of not only cultural observations, but also philosophical maxims, literary precepts, as well as political admonitions. The writer also discusses a political subtext that runs through the work in which Stael criticize Napoleonic expansion. Bibliography lists 2 sources.

Dean Ornish's "Love & Survival : 8 Pathways To Intimacy And Health"
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Dean Ornish's "Love & Survival : 8 Pathways To Intimacy And Health" addresses a very fundamental instinct of every human being: individualism. That this quest for uniqueness asserts itself in every aspect of one's existence is paramount to the extent of prosocial behavior and how that relates to one's levels of
health and intimacy. From the author's perspective, one can readily surmise that to be unique within a world of sameness is a quest sought by many people; however, it is by way of such an objective that one becomes labeled as selfish and
introverted – consciously divorced from the requisite human connections that establish a healthful existence. No additional sources cited.

Death and "The Stone Angel"
[ send me this paper ]
A 7 page discussion of the theme of death as it is found in Margaret Laurence's "The Stone Angel". Laurence used writing as a tool to work through her pain. With her writing she could create an imaginary world that was, at least on the surface, free of the real life trauma that she was experiencing at any one time in her life. The result of her literary endeavor was phenomenal but even it revolved to a degree around the theme of death. No additional sources are listed.
