Women's Roles in the Wife of Bath's and Miller's Tales

The paper enumerates a number of correspondences between the Wife of Bath, whose name was Alice, and Alisoun, the subject of the Miller's Tale. In both these tales, Chaucer shows that though women may not have had legal rights or political power, they clearly have the power of sex over men -- and they know it. Bibliography lists two sources.
