Giovanni Boccaccio's Tenth Tale, Tenth Day And Chaucer's The Wife Of Bath: Analysis
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Giovanni Boccaccio's Tenth Tale, Tenth Day tells his story of Griselda as an answer to Chaucer's The Wife of Bath tale and philosophy. When one ponders the opposition of The Wife of Bath's Prologue and Tale as it relates to Boccaccio's tale of Griselda, it is easy to see how they represent completely divergent personalities. Chaucer's Alisoun, on the one hand, is a strong and defiant woman who lets no one stand in her way. Griselda, by contrast, is the victim of spousal brutality and has absolutely no way to escape it, either mentally or physically. No additional sources cited.

A 7 page overview of the work of Italian poet Giuseppe Ungaretti. This paper emphasizes the varied cultural influences which undoubtedly shaped Ungaretti’s style. Hamlet, Oedipus & Death of a Salesman
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page essay that contrasts and compares these three works. Three of the greatest tragic plays every written are "Oedipus" by Sophocles; "Hamlet" by William Shakespeare; and "Death of a Salesman" by Arthur Miller. While these plays are vastly different, as their subject matter and their playwrights are separated by centuries, they also bear similarities. In each play, sexual relationships play a major role in motivating the action that propels the characters toward their tragic fate. Another factor is that these plays also exhibit similarities in structure, as they all follow the parameters of Aristotelian tragedy, as outlined by that ancient Greek philosopher in his treatise, "The Poetics." Lastly, but perhaps, most importantly, these plays relate aspects of the human condition, which is a factor that makes them timeless, as each new generation finds aspects of their own lives within cathartic dramatizations. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
