Research Proposal for Life Satisfaction Measurement
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper presenting a proposal for a research project investigating life satisfaction as a function of race, gender and religion. The proposed research is a study conducted using new data collected from an old survey instrument, the Quality of American Life survey used in 1971 and replicated in 1978. The purpose of using the established questionnaire is to more reliably measure true changes in society and attitude rather than in survey question writing. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

Research Proposal: Patient Records Waiting Times
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper proposing investigation of the time required for patients requesting records to receive them. The paper proposes combining quantitative and qualitative approaches, quantitative to establish time studies along each point of the request fulfillment process, qualitative to determine patients’ perceptions of the time required to fill their records requests. Researchers anticipate exposing one or more points along the process path that can be altered to reduce patient waiting time and thereby improve perceived quality of service. They expect to be able to identify points during the process at which they can improve the process of supplying records to waiting patients. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

Research Proposal: Medical/Surgical Nurse Documentation
[ send me this paper ]
A 15 page paper proposing research into the completeness and appropriateness of nurse documentation at a teaching hospital for a period of one month. Nurse documentation formerly was a topic that was discussed only as a matter of instruction and requirement for complete patient records. Though that perspective remains valid in today’s health care environment, the issue of nurse documentation has taken on a far greater role in both practical and administrative terms. Nurse documentation must be appropriate, and for a variety of reasons. Of course the issue of patient safety and completeness of care remains the leading one, but reimbursement by third-party payers increasingly is dependent on appropriate nurse documentation. The need for appropriate nurse documentation is only expected to increase in the future. Bibliography lists 24 sources.

Residents’ Rights in Long Term Care: Pain Management
[ send me this paper ]
An 11 page paper discussing traditional and newer approaches to pain management among the elderly, specifically those confined to nursing homes. The paper includes discussion of Neuman’s, Orem’s and King’s theories of nursing practice as they relate to the issue of pain management among nursing home residents. The use of pain-killing drugs is frowned on even when use of them is necessary. More highly favored is patient education and personal responsibility in exercising pain management techniques. Bibliography lists 13 sources.

Residual Antibiotic Contamination in Milk
[ send me this paper ]
A 15 page paper discussing the origins and elimination of detectable levels of antibiotics in commercially-produced milk. Much antibiotic treatment in dairy cows is for varying forms of mastitis, some of which will run its course and then disappear. It appears that dairy farming is approaching the end of its hour glass on the widespread use of antibiotics, particularly in questionable applications. There is zero tolerance for any residue of antibiotics of any kind, and testing procedures are being developed that promise to be even more sensitive than those preceding. As testing for those antibiotics is more likely to find any detectable trace present, the importance of preventing any introduction of antibiotics into any operation's milk production also concurrently increases. Bibliography lists 16 sources.
