The Role Of Electron Microscopy In The Diagnosis Of Disease
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. The role of electron microscopy in the diagnosis if disease has been defined as potentially lifesaving and a significant advancement in the technological advancement of molecular biology. Standard methods of diagnosing viral disease has typically employed the use of conventional diagnostic techniques such as serology and virus isolation, which require a wait time that may impair the patient's ability to medicate before the problem becomes worse. With a turnaround time of two hours to two days after specimen collection, electron microscopy has the potential for forever altering the method by which people are diagnosed with viral diseases. Early detection of viral particles is the secret weapon afforded an electron microscopy, a process that provides for organism detection long before any other standard testing method can do so. The Role of Health Psychologists in Smoking Cessation
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 5 page paper on the role of health psychologists in smoking cessation. The Website of the Health Psychology Associates (http://www.healthpsych.com/) addresses issues related to the research, treatments and role of health psychologists in the health care setting. One area of particular concern for health psychology is smoking. Essentially, health psychologists are concerned with the psychological and biomedical reasons for why people are addicted to smoking and have difficulty stopping and what treatment programs can be initiated to help people stop smoking. Research has found that people begin and continue smoking from a combination of social, psychological, and biological factors. In smoking cessation therapies health psychologists have found that a combination of psychological, social and biological factors are also the most effective in that patients are instructed on the use of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) in addition to the more important aspects of personal and social counseling, coping strategies, skill management and stress reduction throughout the stages of contemplation of smoking cessation through until well after action and maintenance of smoking cessation.

The Self-Care Deficit Theory of Nursing: Comparison of Theories of Orem and Peplau
[ send me this paper ]
Nursing, as a necessity, must address both patient and the health care system. Methodologies must also take into account other factors such as culture, ethnicity, race, socioeconomic background and educational attainment. Theories have evolved over the years to much more precisely take into account these considerations. Two such theories are proposed by D. Orem and Hildgard Peplau. While the specifics of these two theories differ on surface appearance, they are quite similar in their consideration of patient welfare as it relates to need and the ability of a nursing system to address that need.
