Ethics in Vision and Mission Statements
[ send me this paper ]
A 3 page paper examining how hospitals can develop vision and mission statements simultaneously attractive to hospital management while having the effect of making health care mosr accessible to those who need it right away. As health care costs continue to spiral despite efforts to contain them, some hospitals have found ways to enhance the quality of health care they offer while yet holding down cost increase rates. One such organization is Hamot Medical Center in Pennsylvania. The purpose here is to advise hospitals on how they can “develop and implement a value based and mission-centered approach to providing health care.” Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Ethics of a Two-Tier Health System
[ send me this paper ]
A 7 page paper discussing the ethics of a two-tier health system, using comparison of the Canadian and US systems and the principles of distributive justice and utilitarianism. The paper concludes that most insured Americans have no choice in their insurers; the uninsured simply have no choice. In terms of distributive justice, it is the welfare principle based on utilitarianism that appears to be the most workable. If health care is a right, then likely the two-tier system is the most ethical structure. Bibliography lists 6 sources in 13 footnotes.

Ethics of Human Cloning
[ send me this paper ]
A 3 page paper discussing the ethics of human cloning. Stem cells used in therapeutic cloning are most plentiful in placenta and aborted fetuses, but they also are available in every adult. Therapeutic cloning does not seem to be as much an issue as is the origin of the stem cells from which cloning can be accomplished. All ethical issues should be served through adult donation of stem cells, in the same way adults now donate blood and organs. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

Evaluating Options For Medicare & Medicaid
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page paper discussing options for saving Medicare. It has been known both in and outside the government for some time now that Medicare and Medicaid are facing times that will call for hard decisions in whether and how to continue them. Medicaid is not in as serious state as is Medicare, partly because it is state-administered, though with federal funds. It is Medicare that needs and has generated the most attention, because it appears that the hospital fund will be bankrupt by 2002. It has been estimated that half the total cost of medical care for an individual will be incurred past the age of 65, the age at which Medicare becomes an issue. Policy regarding Medicare can also be applied to Medicaid, but all must be approached through means testing, and in a light that is compatible with Kingston's theories of bringing the problem to the government. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Bibliography lists 7 sources.
