Islam In Africa
[ send me this paper ]
In any study of religious history it is difficult to find an unbiased and strictly historical perspective. This is true for study of Islam's role in the history of Africa. The influence of the colonial rule slanted the view of history in one direction while the fundamentalism of the Islamic culture adds another perspective. The history of Arab expansion has been recorded similarly with the lone exception of religious explanations for expansionist policies. This 10 page paper examines the history of the spread of Islam in Africa. Bibliography lists 9 sources.

Comparisons of Plato and C.S. Lewis' Screwtape
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page paper comparing the two works. C. S. Lewis is known for his Christian writing, both overt and more veiled forms. The Screwtape Letters most assuredly are the finest example of Lewis' overt Christian work in that Screwtape, demon supreme, writes letters of instruction to his nephew Wormwood, who is on assignment to gain a particular soul for satan's collection. Plato of course is pre-Christian, but he does give credence to the ancient Greek gods. While he grants gods at least part of their due, he is certain that responsibility for goodness and moral behavior is attributable to the worth of the individual, is determined by the individual without outside influence. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
