Is Hedonism The Basis For The Best Life?
[ send me this paper ]
3 pages in length. Hedonism, while inherent to the fundamental nature of human beings, leaves out the concept of goodwill and, therefore, cannot be considered the basis for the best life. The wholly myopic approach to life through the hedonistic lens illustrates man's constant preoccupation with his own desires, often to the great detriment of the world around him. Given the philosophical definition of hedonism - "The ethical doctrine holding that only what is pleasant or has pleasant consequences is intrinsically good" (Editors, 2000) - there is no room left for the reality of pain and suffering in one's existence; to only experience pleasure without the equalizing element of struggle is to live only half a life. Instead of being the basis for the best life, hedonism is actually the conduit to a life fractured by falsehood. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

Is It Immoral To Believe A Claim Without Evidence?
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. To believe is to place one's faith in what is being put forth; whether the origin is written, spoken or visual, belief can be cultivated with very little proof to support conviction toward an otherwise improvable concept or image. Scientists understand the critical importance of believing a claim only after tangible evidence can be demonstrated, inasmuch as they are in a wholly awkward position to accept things as true merely because they are told so. The scientific community works within a highly controlled environment whereby speculation and theoretical inference hold no value; to do otherwise is to morally jeopardize the foundation upon which methodical, precise research is conducted. From an entirely different perspective, however, is that of philosophy and the oftentimes unverifiable claims that are accepted as truths. Being that philosophical conjecture is based solely upon one's personal point of view that incorporates thought processes not always shared by others, it stands to reason how morality's role in believing a theoretic claim without evidence is indeed a commonality. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

Is It Morally Acceptable For An Employer To Make Rules Against Dating In The Workplace?
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Workplace dating is as common an occurrence as taking a daily lunch break, inasmuch as it has existed within this particular environment since men and women have been thrust into spending at least forty hours a week of their lives within close proximity. The extent to which the workplace is often the only viable setting for people to meet when they commit so much of their time to the job is both grand and far-reaching; that workplace dating also has the potential to disrupt by inappropriately bleeding over into the business environment speaks to the need to consider utilitarianism and deontology as a way in which to examine whether it is morally acceptable for an employer to make rules against dating in the workplace. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
