[ send me this paper ]
A 3 page paper discussing the skeptical doubts that Hume presents in Section IV of “An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding,” weighed against Hans Reichenbach’s argument that the future will either resemble the past or it will not. Reichenbach’s argument is either/or, and makes no allowance for any advances that may have been made between the past and the future, or Hume’s cause and effect. Hypothetical Ethical Issue with Reference to Moral Egoism and Moral Absolutism
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 3 page paper discussing moral egoism and moral absolutism in regards to a hypothetical ethical dilemma. A hypothetical ethical issue is presented which deals with the philosophies of moral egoism and moral absolutism in regards to discussing possible actions in the case of Rose. Rose asks a friend for advice as to whether or not she should have an affair within marriage based on her unusual circumstances of caring for her husband who has been paralyzed for the past six years. Rose states she is a religious person and her religion has taught her that adultery is immoral. From a moral absolutist perspective then, if she had an affair her actions would be considered immoral. Moral egoism however, promotes the happiness of the individual which Rose believes may be the result of the sexual fulfillment she will gain by having an affair. Both aspects are examined in regards to Rose’s situation and a possible solution given by her friend.

Idealism
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 6 page paper discussing the philosophical concept of “idealism”. The concept of “idealism” has changed greatly over the course of the last several centuries but the most basic premises were on those proposed by George Berkeley in the early 18th century. Basically idealism is the theory that physical things are sensations of the mind and no idea, physical thing or sensation exists outside of the mind. This being said, philosophers had difficulty with the complete acceptance of all things only existing through sensations and ideas. Because of this idealism was not necessarily adopted wholly but its concepts were adopted partially and included in several other conceptual theories including “critical idealism” advocated by Immanuel Kant, Hopkins theories which combined idealism with materialism, and the more recent applications such as political idealism and realistic idealism.
