Tell Or Keep Quiet?
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper assessing this scenario: A friend’s daughter is gay; she is staying in her mother’s house and has a friend staying there with her. Her mother does not know that the two women are sleeping together in her home. The paper discusses the philosophies of Kant and Mill as well as ethics of care to arrive at the conclusion that the would-be informer should not share the information with the mother. If the mother truly is unaware of the situation, she will know soon enough. If she knows already but refuses to acknowledge the situation, proclamation of it by a friend disallows her choice to “tune out” reality. At best, the informer’s information will not be new. At worst, the woman could adopt a “shoot the messenger” stance and the friendship could be compromised at a time that the woman may need a friend most. The would-be informer needs to remain silent. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

The “Poetry” of Freud and Nietzsche
[ send me this paper ]
This 6 page report
discusses Sigmund Freud and Friedrich Nietzsche and refers to how
each used vast amounts of poetic imagery, analogies, and metaphor
in their writing. Each captured the essence of what they had to
say in a poetic framework that carried a certain amount of
lyricism although both are likely to have denied such a thing.
Nietzsche’s “Birth of Tragedy” (1872) was (and is) an example of
classical intellectualism while Freud’s “Civilizations and its
Discontents” (1930) presented the world with the idea that
humanity and the collective thinking of human beings is of far
greater impact than the behavior of human beings as separate
individuals. Both works serve to illustrate that Freud and
Nietzsche were examples of para-rational poets. Bibliography
lists 5 sources.

The “Pre-Socratic” Philosophers of Greece
[ send me this paper ]
This 5 page report
discusses pre-Socratic philosophy which was born in the Greek
cities of Ionia at the end of the 7th century BCE. The
establishment of the Ionian school in Miletos should be
considered as the actual point of departure for pre-Socratic
thinking. The pre-Socratic philosophers were able to weave reason
and intuition into their search for truth in a remarkably erudite
and articulate manner. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
