Rural Women and Temporary Aid for Needy Families

Approaches the provisions of the act from the perspective of rural women, noting transportation and childcare concerns as well as inequitable pay between men and women. Russia and France and the Constitutional Division of Powers

A 10 page discussion of the value of the Constitutional provision for separation of powers. The author contends that to understand the impact of this attempt at separation of power it becomes useful to look at a more long-standing example of such a separation, that of France. This task is further enabled with a comparison of the manner in which the U.K. differs in its approach to government. It can be contended that while the concept of separation of power is an integral component of a successful republic, that separation undergoes an evolutionary process which allows it to become more successful the longer it is in operation. Russian Popular Culture During The 1980 Olympic Games In Moscow

The overwhelming political implications of the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games turned this usually festive competition into a bureaucratic battle zone; however, this was hardly the first or last time that international politics invaded the supposed sanctity of the Olympic Games. The Soviet Union had just invaded Afghanistan and as a measure of opposition towards the attack, the United States Olympic team boycotted the event. When the student considers the myriad issues related to the 1980 Moscow Olympics, he or she will want to more closely examine the reason for Moscow's application as a host city in the first place; the USSR's reaction to having the Olympics in its backyard; and how international coverage varied from journalist to journalist, given the press's inherent propensity for misinformation.
