The Marshall Plan And The Truman Doctrine: Motivation For The Change In United States Foreign Policy From Isolationists To Internationalists
[ send me this paper ]
12 pages in length. The United States of America carries with it the reputation of political benevolence; no other nation in the world has bestowed international economic assistance to anywhere near the extent to which America has. Looking back upon the motivational factors of such financial generosity, one can readily assert that the combined efforts of the Marshall Plan and the Truman Doctrine helped to set the wheels of charity in motion, inevitably and deeply influencing how the United States was perceived from that point forward. Helping to exchanging its status from isolationist to internationalist, the Truman Doctrine and the Marshall Plan represented America's milestone with regard to being the most important country in the world. Bibliography lists 15 sources.

The Meaning Of Modernity
[ send me this paper ]
David Harvey deals with modernity in terms of
the post-modern world in his book, The Condition Of Postmodernity.
Ferdinand Tonnies, the sociologist, bases his exploration of the modern
world in terms of the urbanization or 'community' versus 'technology' in
his explanation of Gemeinschaft And Gesellschaft. The movie,
Metropolis, is interesting in it's portrayal of the 'future' inasmuch as
it was first released in 1927 and then re-released with a rock-and-roll
score, in 1984. Marshall Berman's book, All That Is Solid Melts Into
Air, presents a philosophical base for the conceptualization of
modernity. This 5 page paper argues that the commonality between these
authors or representations is their belief in a Marxian base for
economic definition of the modern era. No additional sources are
listed.

The Media and Its Effects on Voting Behavior
[ send me this paper ]
A 9 page literature review examining a blend
of political scientists' research and more casual observations regarding how the media influences
voter behavior on election day. Most work has been centered on the television medium, with far
less attention given to radio and newspapers. What is absolutely certain is that the media do
have an impact, though existing studies and considered observation and experience have not
been able to concur on precisely what that impact is. Media effect on voter behavior continues
to be an area needy of study, though perhaps under better design than that which has guided
such studies in the past. Bibliography lists 9 sources.
