Alexander Hamilton's Support Of The Federalist Papers
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. Alexander Hamilton's argument in support of a unitary executive (the Federalist Papers) originated from his assertion that "energy" represents an essential element in the executive capacity, a component he clearly and staunchly contended was important to good government. To Hamilton, the term energy represented the most critical components of a strong and progressive government, one in which the inherent responsibilities are addressed in an impenetrable yet effective manner. Hamilton argued that decision, activity, secrecy and dispatch are fundamental components to a solid, energetic executive, indicative of what he viewed as the most important political characteristics. Altemeyer/The Authoritarian Specter
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page book review that analyzes and summarizes Bob Altemeyer's The Authoritarian Specter (1996), which is a scholarly, highly-researched and very disturbing book that should be required reading for every American--or North American. Altemeyer's research--which is empirical in nature and detailed extensively in the text-- suggests that there is a tendency in human nature toward acceptance and endorsement of authoritarianism. The writer discusses how this tendency would affect legislative bodies, but also offers a general overview of this extremely important book, which is cautionary in regards to the rise of fascism within society. No additional sources cited.

Altering Medicare’s Effect on Health Care
[ send me this paper ]
A 15 page paper discussing the history, economic effect, regulations and future of Medicare. There is intense and ongoing debate about the future of Medicare, the need for reform and the shape that such reform should take. As politicians haggle over private interests and noble ideals that no one can afford, Medicare’s influence on health care increasingly affects microeconomic choices of households and businesses, as well as the larger national economy. There is no question that Medicare must become more flexible. Its micro- and macroeconomic effect is detrimental to the health care industry, to the national economy and to individuals seeking health care services. The paper suggests that Medicare allow the private sector to drive reform of the system. Includes an outline. Bibliography lists 11 sources.

America Under Attack
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages. On September 11, 2001, America
was attacked by terrorists, resulting in the loss of thousands of
lives and untold millions of dollars in devastation. Hardest hit
were New York City and Washington D.C. Who were the terrorists
who perpetrated such an attack on the United States, and what
were their reasons for doing so? The United States is in the
course of discovering the answers to these questions which this
paper will address. This paper also considers what actions
should be taken, if any, by the United States in light of these
horrific events, and what the citizens of the United States feel
should be done. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

America's Democratic History
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. The scope of democracy reaches far and wide with regard to its interpretation; while the nation's founders set forth a clear and highly transparent definition, the democratic concept has undergone an ongoing revision of meaning wholly dependent upon the objectives of specific agendas. Reining in these misconstrued undertones is as simple as revisiting some of the most fundamental documents that illustrate the foundation of what democracy truly means: the Declaration of Independence, President Bush's second inaugural address and the Port Huron Statement of the Students for a Democratic Society. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
