Behavioral & Experiential Approaches to Family Therapy
[ send me this paper ]
A 15 page paper using literature analysis to prove the hypothesis that though there is a much greater volume of current research and reporting based in behavioral therapy rather than experiential, the lack of similar work based in the experiential model is not indicative of that method's validity or effectiveness. Rather, there is a common blurring of boundaries between the two methods in which therapy will begin with emphasis in one method but then introduce aspects of the other. The behavioral model is more easily quantitatively analyzed for research reporting, lending itself more readily to analysis than does the experiential model, which has a more emotional base and is more difficult to verify through standard research means. Bibliography lists 16 sources.

Behavioral And Emotional Rating Scale 2nd Edition
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. The purpose of the Behavioral and Emotional Rating Scale, 2nd Edition (BERS2), is to evaluate competency and strengths of children from ages five to eighteen. Primary measurements include interpersonal strengths, school functioning, intrapersonal strength, family involvement and career strength (Epstein, 2004). Test administration is such that the child completes the test in a ten-minute time frame; parents and/or teachers are observers in this three-pronged scale. Drawbacks of this scale, as is the same with similar tests, is the manner by which myriad elements play a critical role in the ultimate outcome of results, not the least of which includes such factors as social and interpersonal functioning, behavioral and cognitive functioning, clinical symptoms, school performance, family functioning and living arrangement restraints. Bibliography lists 8 sources.

Behavioral Evolution and the Formation of Culture
[ send me this paper ]
An 8 page discussion of behavioral evolution and the role of behavioral science in that evolution. Notes that behavioral changes occur over time on both an individual level and a cultural level. Compares these changes with biological evolution through the process of natural selection. Warns that while the intervention of behavioral science may be of positive use in correcting truly aberrant individual behavior, it could be of tremendous adverse impact to cultural evolution as a whole. Encourages cultural self-control and warns against the approach of Westernization and deliberate cultural design and intervention. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
