Homicidal Fantasy
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. The human species is hard-wired in such a way that no amount of civilized existence can purge what are the most deep-seated of tendencies. On the surface, an individual is repulsed at the idea of killing another person and may even assert that only the criminal element is able to tap into that otherwise unattainable mental place; however, the scientifically proven frequency of homicidal fantasies tells another story entirely. Researchers have learned via a succession of similar findings that the human species has an innate inclination -- or instinct -- toward at least entertaining the idea of murder within the safety net of personal imagination. What drives people to actually slaying another is what breaks the connection to fantasy and makes it a reality. Understanding the triggers and why they are different between the sexes speaks to the relevance of this research and how it extends previous research in social science by providing a better understanding of how the male and female perspective impacts behavior. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
