Going into the 21st Century
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page paper discussing some of the subjects that will be of great concern as we move into the 21st century. The three subjects addressed herein are technology, medicine, and international relations. Each of these three areas of concern are of great importance and while there are many other areas that will also change and readjust to a new era, these areas of concern are perhaps the most obvious and most influential to all people concerned. The 21st century is hinting at being a time of great changes and occurrences. Times have changed drastically in only a few decades, and there is little doubt that changes and advancements have been occurring far faster this past century than perhaps, in any other century known to mankind. Technology, medicine, and international relations have always proven to be the most advancing, and the coming of the 21st century will prove this fact even further. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

Hazard Insurance, Statistics, and Decision-Making
[ send me this paper ]
This 7 page
report discusses the key factor underlying the role of hazard
insurance -- the probable nature of risk prediction. Such
prediction comprises a combination of hazard, vulnerability and
exposure. As data becomes more precise, predictability is also
improved. As predictability improves, overall costs are reduced
since there is a greater degree of awareness of what may take
place and allows for greater preparation on the part of those who
may be affected. In general, that predictability is based on
statistical occurrence and what those statistics tell about
eventualities of a situation. Statistical probability serves as
the foundation upon which decisions are made in the hazard
insurance business. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

However, without the proper equipment, life merely hangs in the balance, preventing medical professionals from effectively performing their life-saving jobs. It has been said that the twentieth century is responsible for the most monumental medically-advanced technology, particular in relation to heart disease, which include drug therapy, heart transplants, coronary bypass, the heart-lung machine and the mechanical heart. Had it not been for these technological
advancements, mankind would still be using guesswork in order to address the always complicated and often deadly heart disease. Bibliography lists 9 sources.
