Bone Density And Dieting: Consumers
[ send me this paper ]
3 pages in length. Slick weight loss advertisements have people believing that a quick fix is better than a slow and steady success; far too few encourage regular exercise with speedy caloric reduction, which ultimately places the dieter at great risk for the loss of bone density. According to a study done in 2005 and published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, people who seek weight loss by calorie reduction alone have been found to lose bone density as compared with those who ate a balanced diet and exercised away the weight. What this clearly illustrates is how the properties of calories go much further than creating energy and putting on the pounds; rather, they are instrumental in maintaining bone stability that helps to ward of osteoarthritis. Bibliography lists 14 sources.

Bone Density And Dieting: Professional
[ send me this paper ]
4 pages in length. The extent to which a low-calorie approach to dieting equates to decreased bone mineral density (BMD) is both grand and far-reaching; that teenage and young adult women represent eighty percent of the total population experiencing bone mass loss speaks to a cultural indoctrination of distorted body image. Two categories in particular depict a preponderance of females who engage in a low-calorie diet and have a greater rate of bone mass reduction: athletes and eating disorder sufferers. Bibliography lists 13 sources.

Boundary Crossing: Language
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. The concept of boundary crossing, as it relates to gender issues, is relevant in such a way that it forms social dictates. Clearly, boys and girls, men and women have specific gender roles to uphold that have been ingrained since childhood; when those boundaries are
crossed, it sometimes creates an uneasiness that reverberates throughout society. One might readily argue that boundary crossing is significantly less acceptable when a woman is traversing the invisible line, such as with sports, politics and any other social element that has long been construed as controlled by the male gender. Pertinent to this learned social behavior is the manner by which both
boys and girls are conditioned through the learning process. Among the myriad differences between men and women is the manner in which they speak. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
