Domestic Violence Against Women In Canada
[ send me this paper ]
10 pages in length. According to Charleson (1998), "societal evolution has become a chaotic and conflict-ridden process. Violence and abuse abound" (p. 11), which is particularly disheartening when discussing the prevalence of domestic abuse – particularly toward pregnant women - in an otherwise civilized society as Canada. Domestic Violence And Immigrant Hispanic Women
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. Domestic violence plays no favorites and overlooks no individual. Socioeconomic status, ethnicity, age or religion - no one is immune from the physical and emotional effects of domestic violence, inasmuch everyone - no matter where they reside upon the ladder of life - is vulnerable to being victimized. There is one defining factor, however, that shifts the likelihood of one type of person being more prone than another: cultural undertones. Historically, global societies where men hold a much stronger presence within the social fabric such as in the Hispanic communities have a higher incidence of domestic abuse compared to places like the United States where gender equity is more prevalent. This anthropological consideration - while affording a greater understanding - makes the reality of domestic violence all the more difficult for immigrant Hispanic women who must battle centuries of ingrained cultural components in their attempts to escape such gratuitously violent treatment. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Domestic Violence In The Us And Honor Crimes In India
[ send me this paper ]
10 pages in length. The presence of domestic violence is a worldwide inhumanity that only recently has been worthy of closer consideration. Thanks in great part to the direction many developed countries have taken toward eradicating such cruel and unmitigated gender inequity, many global communities are taking steps to quell the indignity. Others, however, remain steeped in patriarchal tradition where a woman is destined to endure whatever shame and torture is deemed appropriate. Bibliography lists 11 sources.

Domestic Violence: A Research Proposal for Conducting a Community Needs Assessment
[ send me this paper ]
A 9 page overview of the issues surrounding domestic violence. Provides a statistical overview of the phenomenon of domestic violence suggesting that many times these issues confront health care personnel who are either ignorant of the importance of intervention or reluctant to become involved. Proposes that a community needs assessment of community outreach education efforts targeting domestic violence be conducted. Designs a study incorporating qualitative input from independent focus groups and representatives from various governmental and private agencies regarding the effectiveness of existing outreach programs and specific community needs in regard to domestic violence. Anticipates that coupling this qualitative input with quantitative information retrieved from the U.S. Census Bureau will aid the design of stand-alone, financially independent, outreach education programs within a three year time frame. Bibliography lists 8 sources.

Domestic Violence: Judicial Shift
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. The shift in the way America's judicial system responds to the issue of domestic violence has been both grand and far-reaching; what was once a situation spouses were expected to endure within the confines of matrimony is now considered nothing short of abuse. That victims of domestic violence are now protected and treated to help heal their physical and/or emotional scars speaks to a judicial system that has waken up to the long reach of patriarchal control in what is otherwise a free and civilized society. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
