Non-English Speaking Background (NESB) Immigrant Women in the Australian Workforce
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page paper in which the writer provides an overview of the problem and research surrounding the issue of NESB. Critics have suggested that large populations of non-English speaking background (NESB) unemployed overburden the welfare and social security systems, and in their attempts to enter the workforce, also strain the country's remedial adult education programs. But in light of maintained immigration levels over the past decade, the path towards changing the negative perceptions of NESB immigrants within the workforce is imbedded not only in a system designed to enhance language skill development, but also to dispel the myths related to their lack of skills and their long-term impacts on the job market. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

Nursing During the Turbulent ‘60s
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page examination of the manner in which nursing changed at the impetus of the feminist movement of the 1960s. Previously relegated to primarily a subservient role in the health care environment and restricted solely to the hospital or doctor’s office, nurses took their lead from the feminist movement to remold their view of themselves as competent professionals. No longer simply puppets of those who had previously held the power and prestige in health care, nurses banded together to make a difference both in the political aspects of healthcare and in nursing theory. Consequently, this time in nursing history was one of the most productive in terms of the degree to which nurses would add to healthcare practice.

Nursing Intervention for Family Violence
[ send me this paper ]
A 9 page paper discussing issues affecting nurses’ ability to intervene in domestic violence issues. As those who are trained in physical needs and spend the greatest amount of time in direct contact with patients, nurses occupy perhaps the best associated position from which to intervene in domestic violence. There are barriers of course, but the emergence of forensic nursing is helping to lessen those barriers. Nurses in all areas of healthcare can develop greater awareness to the signs of abuse. There still is a fine ethical line in that nurses cannot blatantly violate confidentiality. Nurses can, however, become proficient at collecting samples, taking notes and asking the right questions of the right people, always keeping the good of the patient as the uppermost goal. Bibliography lists 9 sources.

7 pages in length. The obstacles facing minority women versus those of minority men in attaining success and employment clearly prove how women have been and continue to be at a greater disadvantage. Even in today's seemingly more gender equitable society, women still struggle to achieve the same status and financial recognition as their male counterparts. Bibliography lists 8 sources.

A 6 page film review that explores the topics covered in the film from an anthropological viewpoint. This examination of the film examines how the veil is portrayed in this documentary, relating this to other anthropological investigations of how the veil works in Middle Eastern gender relations and in the lives of Middle Eastern women.
